The Firagon was created from the awesome piece of artwork by Nick Szankovics.  It is cross between a Hyren and the Balrog from Lord of the Rings in appearance.  Since 2i was moving towards creature-ful Cald, it was imperative that the only creature card in the set would be something that would fit in all sorts of Cald creature decks, be it burn, defensive or attacking.  Basically this Firagon is an amped up version of Flambit which doesn't discard itself.  However, the downside is that it's not considered to be in play when checking for magi defeat since it is "mythical".  Critics have complained that this card is a bit off, that the "mythical" qualities makes it more like a d'Resh illusion than a Cald creature.  Nevertheless, playtesters have enjoyed this card and the added firepower that it adds to their decks.
